metropolis country club

Metropolis Country Club was established in 1922. The original 18 hole golf course, designed by Herbert Strong, was later expanded when the noted golf architect A. W. Tillinghast redesigned the course, adding the current 7th, 12th, 13th and 14th holes. In the early 1970’s, architect Joe Finger reconfigured the 15th and 16th holes to accommodate some badly needed additional parking areas, and during 1998 and 1999 Joe Finger’s partner, Ken Dye, updated the course once again, lengthening the course to its current 6,827 yards. In 2013 the club hired architect Ron Forse to embark on a total restoration/renovation project. Under Ron's guidance, along with course superintendent David McCaffrey, the project was completed in the spring of 2015. The result of which has elevated the golfing experience at Metropolis to the finest in the Metropolitan area.
